Columbiana County has a rich agricultural history and heritage. In fact, there are 27 registered historic family farms in the county! Experience this rich culture while supporting local family farms and businesses through agritourism! 

If you’re unfamiliar with the term, agritourism describes activities designed to bring outside visitors to a farm. Think hayrides, pick-them-yourself strawberry fields, apple orchards, and pumpkin patches. 

From retail farms to farmers markets and seasonal events like hayrides and corn mazes, if you want to experience a little bit of agritourism, check out Columbiana County! Below is a list of various markets and retail farms to help you do just that. 

Keep in mind that many of these farm markets and farms are seasonal. Some of their hours are due to change. Be sure to check their website, Facebook page, or give them a call before you plan to visit to make sure they are open and ready for guests! 

Farm Markets and Produce Sellers

These businesses sell a wide variety of produce and some also have on-property greenhouses where they sell flowers and other gardening items.

Brunner’s Greenhouse & Farm Market

Catalpa Grove Farm & Greenhouses

Established in 1981, Catalpa Grove is a family farm and greenhouse complex offering fresh produce and a wide selection of flowers. Their website provides detailed information on when certain produce is in season as well as upcoming events like seasonal hayrides. 

McMaster Farms 

This fourth-generation farm sells a variety of items including fresh produce like sweet corn. In the fall they also sell pumpkins and other fall items. Their website lists which items are in season as well as their prices. 

Ward’s Market

 

Ward’s features a variety of fresh produce including some Amish-grown items.

VanPelt’s is a farm market and greenhouse featuring fresh produce, flowers, and garden items.

Horst Produce & Greenhouses 

Horst Produce features a variety of fresh produce items as well as several large greenhouses. 

Ridzon Farms 

This family-run farm sells freshly picked produce including Silver Queen sweet corn. They also sell other farm items including locally produced honey.

Woolf Farms Fruit Market

Despite the name, Woolf Farms Fruit Market offers quite a bit more than just fruit. Along with fresh-picked fruits from the farm, they also sell a variety of baked goods, locally sourced meat, and dairy products. 

Stouffer’s Farm Market and Greenhouse 

Stouffer’s offers fresh fruit, produce, hanging baskets, and a wide variety of flowers.

Fruit Specialists

While most farm markets do sell fruit, the following listings include farms that specialize specifically in growing and selling fruit. Some of these farms even offer a “pick them yourself” option. 

Eagleton Farm and Gardens

Eagleton Farm and Gardens primarily specializes in blueberries and raspberries, but sometimes offer a variety of blueberry jams. They offer both pre-picked berries or pick-your-own options.

His Bounty Orchard and Farm

This seasonal fruit market primarily specializes in Ohio-grown Apples.

Huffman Fruit Farm 

Huffman Fruit Farm has been in their family for over four generations and they grow most of the produce they offer on their farm. They specialize in fruit and sometimes offer pick-your-own options. Check their Facebook page for updates on which fruits are in season and when pick-your-own is happening. 

Hay’s Orchard 

Hay’s Orchard has been specializing in fresh-pressed juices since 1949. Their products include apple cider, farmstand juices, and even apple cider based barbecue sauces. Check out their website for details about all their products.

Dillon Fruit Farm 

This fruit farm focuses on pick-your-own options including blueberries, raspberries, elderberries, and cherries. They also offer a  variety of pre-picked fruits and some other produce as well. 

Where’s the Beef? 

Columbiana County features several farms that offer farm-raised beef, chicken, and other livestock. Though they sell meat, many of these farms sell other items as well like handmade soaps, jams, and other products. 

Blue Heron Farms

Blue Heron Farms is a women-owned, award-winning sheep farm. They sell a variety of lamb meat options including both individually packaged retail cuts and custom options. Be sure to check their website for specific information about purchasing lamb meat or sheep. 

Chamberlain Farms Meats Inc.

Chamberlain Farms both sells and processes meat. They sell chicken, various cuts of  beef, and even beef-based snack sticks. 

T&H Farm 

T&H sells both beef and a variety of goat milk soaps and the goats themselves. You can contact them to schedule a product pickup and can order online through their website. 

Buck Berry Farms LLC 

This farm offers a variety of items including pasture-fed beef, pasture-raised pork as well as farm-fresh eggs and produce! They also sell handmade goats milk soap and strawberry jam. Check out their website to order online. 

W Bench Farms 

W Bench Farms sells farm-raised beef in a variety of options. You can buy specific cuts by the pound or order a variety box. They also sell roping cattle and horses! Be sure to check out their website for specific information on meat options and cuts. 

Heritage Lane Farm

Heritage Lane offers various products including bison meat, produce, flowers and flower bulbs, pork, lamb, and even maple syrup! This farm has an extremely long history as their website states that the earliest records of the farm are from the late 1800s. 

Other: Dairy, Fish and More

Columbiana County has a wide diversity of farms and farm markets, here are some that have a different specialty than we’ve covered so far. 

Baker’s Golden Dairy

The only on-farm bottling plant in the county, Baker’s Golden Dairy offers a variety of products including milk (which is also sold at surrounding farm markets and retail stores) as well as drinkable yogurt, buttermilk, and cheese spread. Their milk is pasteurized but non-homogenized. They also sell ice cream! 

D&S Orchards LLC

D&S Orchards is a polyface orchard dedicated to sustainable agriculture practices. They sell a variety of farm products including farm-raised chickens and eggs. They even sell baked goods like brownie bites, ciabatta bread baguettes, and more. Please note, while the farm itself is selling products, they aren’t fully up and running yet as an agritourism destination. Be sure to contact them ahead of time if you’re interested in a visit!  

Five F Fish Farm 

Five F “Sells fish to anyone for any reason”. They offer both decorative fish, game fish, water plants, and even turtles! 

Hein Homestead Farms 

This family-owned farm primarily focuses on fall seasonal items such as pumpkins as well as hand-crafted fall apparel like hats, scarves, gloves, and more. 

Rainbow Creek Homestead 

Rainbow Creek sells fresh organic produce and eggs. Their offerings also include herbal tea, tinctures, and fresh blackberries. 

Seasonal Events and More

Many of the previously mentioned farms feature seasonal events such as pumpkin patches, hayrides, and more, but here are some additional seasonal events and businesses to look out for! 

Rolling Acres Corn Maze

Rolling Acres Corn Maze is a seasonal corn maze venue that in 2024 will be open between September 21st and November 3. Their professionally designed and cut maze covers 2.64 acres and typically has a fun theme. They also offer hayrides, barrel train rides, mini golf, and more activities. Admission is $15 but they also offer specific group and party rates.

Winona Strawberry Festival

This annual event features live music, lots of food, and of course strawberries! It typically takes place in mid to early June.
